Authors
abstract
in recent decades, evolutionary algorithms have been applied successfully in various water resource engineering and management issue especially in optimal operation of reservoirs. in this paper, a model based on shuffled complex evolution (sce) algorithm has been developed for modeling optimal operation of complex multi reservoir system of karkheh basin. the system includes 4 different agricultural irrigation demands allocation with environmental prioritize in both short and long-term approach. in this study, development, increment of performance and algorithm’s resistance which are the main cause of having perfect mechanism of rullet-wheel and established preparation in the programming’s structure. first, the accuracy of the developed model was evaluated by a number of standard functions. the results indicate good performance of the developed model. next the developed model was used for solving complex multi-reservoir system operation karkheh basin. results of model was evaluated by some statistical criteria and compared with the ga standard results. results show high performance and sce algorithm fitness to optimal operation of reservoirs.

Optimum Parameters for Tuned Mass Damper Using Shuffled Complex Evolution (SCE) Algorithm
This study is investigated the optimum parameters for a tuned mass damper (TMD) under the seismic excitation. Shuffled complex evolution (SCE) is a meta-heuristic optimization method which is used to find the optimum damping and tuning frequency ratio for a TMD. The efficiency of the TMD is evaluated by decreasing the structural displacement dynamic magnification factor (DDMF) and acceleration ...

full textOptimal Reservoir Operation Using Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm
This paper presents a Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEA) to derive a set of optimal operation policies for a multipurpose reservoir system. One of the main goals in multiobjective optimization is to find a set of well distributed optimal solutions along the Pareto front. Classical optimization methods often fail in attaining a good Pareto front. To overcome the drawbacks faced by the...

full textDeveloping Self-adaptive Melody Search Algorithm for Optimal Operation of Multi-reservoir Systems
Operation of multi-reservoir systems is known as complicated and often large-scale optimization problems. The problems, because of broad search space, nonlinear relationships, correlation of several variables, as well as problem uncertainty, are difficult requiring powerful algorithms with specific capabilities to be solved. In the present study a Self-adaptive version of Melody Search algorith...
full textDETERMINATION OF OPTIMAL HEDGING RULE USING FUZZY SET THEORY FOR MULTI-RESERVOIR OPERATION
To deal with severe drought when water supply is insufficient hedging rule, based on hedging rule curve, is proposed. In general, in discrete hedging rules, the rationing factors have changed from a zone to another zone at once. Accordingly, this paper is an attempt to improve the conventional hedging rule to control the changes of rationing factors. In this regard, the simulation model has emp...
